New Moon in Capricorn 2021

2021’s New Moon in Capricorn continues to invite you inwards, deepening down into your roots.  We’ve been working with the energy of turning inward for such a long time as we continue to feel the pull to withdraw into this most recent round of lockdowns.

Capricorn’s New Moon can be a potent reminder that we are still in the inward energy of the year. Though the sun is past the Solstice and the days are visibly lengthening, the energy of the trees is still deeply rooted within the earth. We will gain about an hour of sunlight this month, and it’s beautiful to witness the return of the light as the evenings lengthen – I encourage you to go outside and walk if you can, to really connect your feet with the earth and to notice the tender re-emergence of life and light.

The New Moon in Capricorn brings the focus to your bones.  Bones create structure and strength, connecting you into the earth element.  Working with the root chakra, muladhara, Capricorn invites you to deepen into your roots.  Grounding into the strength and depth of the earth you will meet with your own strength and depth and courage.

The energy in Capricorn can help you to take practical steps to reach your goals, grounding your intentions for the year ahead.

This moon may also provide you with an opportunity to examine your relationship with self-worth.  Asking yourself what are the limiting beliefs that no longer serve you, and giving yourself permission to let them go.

Feel the connection between your bones and the earth: the earth supporting and holding your bones; your bones supporting and holding your structure.  Inhale the strength and energy of the earth allowing it to infuse your bones, giving strength and structure to your intentions.  Exhale to release any limiting beliefs.  Continue like this for as long as necessary.

Before you complete this breathing meditation, ask yourself the following question: During this waxing phase of the lunar cycle, what practical steps can I take towards my intentions?

Set a clear intention for your path ahead and note down the practical actions you can take.

Sankalpa Mudra, or the intention-setting gesture, can help to strengthen your intentions at this time.  Bring your left hand across your body to your right thigh, palm turned upwards, and your right hand down to meet it, palm facing down.  Clasp your hands together as though you are shaking your own hand.  With the tip of your tongue resting on the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth, allow your eyes to close and direct your focus within.  State clearly your intention three times, either aloud or silently.  Breathe here and allow the intention to crystallise in your mind.  When you feel ready or complete, open your eyes and release your hands.

Luna Rhythms Yoga is based on a range of different techniques from the yogic tradition that enable you to embody and integrate the monthly and daily rhythms of the lunar cycle, ensuring that your practice is always in alignment with exactly what you need when you need it.

Know you are loved and supported,

Blessed Be
