Annular Solar Eclipse

This is the big one.  Possibly the biggest and most potent energetic alignment of our lifetimes.  As the Sun stands still for three days, rising at its northernmost point on the eastern horizon, it comes into alignment with the Earth, the Moon and the Galactic Centre! With a solar eclipse at zero degrees cancer (07.39 on Sunday 21 June in the UK) there will be a full alignment from Earth to Moon to Sun to Galactic Centre as the sun is eclipsed to leave just a ring of fire.  This is entry into the void.  This is total reset.  It’s the energetic peak of the year and it’s the axis of realignment.

Nothing is as it was. 

The Earth is ripe for rebirth.

Getting here has been a monumental effort.  You’ll have felt it.  All the work you’ve been doing in your body, around your heart; everything moving through your energy field.  All that we’re collectively experiencing in the fight for freedom, justice, racial and gender equality.  And there’s more to do, much more.

But as we reach this tipping point of the year, as the energies align to take us into the void, allow yourself a moment to rest, relax, let go – and celebrate.

At Luna Rhythms, our unique system of yoga integrated with the lunar cycles and solar seasons teaches techniques from the ancient yogic practices of asanapranayamamudrabandha and mantra in alignment with the energies of the day, season and cycle.  Litha is an invitation to celebrate, giving gratitude for all that you’ve achieved and realigning yourself with your highest wisdom.  

The energy of the Summer Solstice invites you to acknowledge how far you’ve come, what you have achieved, all that is coming to fruition in your life and in the world.  Honour yourself and others, take time to really reflect on your successes and wonder at all you’ve brought into being through the waxing half of this year.  Recognise the things you’ve worked hard at, the energy and sacrifice it has taken to get to where you are.  Knowing that the journey isn’t over, allow yourself this time to stop and celebrate where you are.  

The new moon energy and solar eclipse are calling you into rest, into surrender.  Listen to your body and let go of all that you’ve been carrying.  Release with every exhale and root into the earth through your ruby red grounding cord.  Do nothing.  Sink into Savasana, giving your full weight to the floor and feeling into every point of connection along the back of your body.  Sigh out, letting your head and neck relax.  Let go of thoughts as you follow your breath with your awareness.  

You may like to practice a Yoga Nidra: deep relaxation with reset intention.  Yoga Nidra takes you into the space between sleeping and waking, where you can meet your inner wisdom and set clear intentions by repeating your Sankalpa.  A Sankalpa is your heartfelt desire or intention.  Deeper than a resolution, guided by your heart and inner wisdom, your Sankalpa is a solemn vow that takes the form of an affirmation for your highest good and the highest good of all.  Spoken in the present tense, the affirmation of your Sankalpa is a heart-centred reminder of your true inner nature:  ‘I am love’, ‘Peace is my essence’, ‘Gratitude fills my heart’.  Repeating your Sankalpa silently during your Yoga Nidra will help to imprint it deeply in your consciousness, increasing its potency for manifestation – reminding you who you truly are.  

In sitting meditation, you can take Sankalpa mudra while repeating your Sankalpa to strengthen your resolve.  Sankalpa mudra joins the left hand with the right, connecting both brain hemispheres and tapping into the deeper consciousness that Yoga Nidra activates.  Placing your left hand facing upwards onto your right thigh, bring your right hand down on top of it and clasp them together.  Breathe and repeat your Sankalpa.

Letting go into the void and setting clear, heartfelt intentions for the way ahead, you give yourself permission to rest and reset.  To realign yourself for this powerful new rebirth.

To support you through this intense energetic shift, the Soulstice Spirit festival will be bringing you workshops and masterclasses for three weekends from the New Moon and Solar Eclipse at the Summer Solstice on Sunday 21 June, through the Waxing Moon on Sunday 28 June, to the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse on Sunday 5 July.  

The planet is realigning.  The cosmic shift is happening.  There is no way back and every heart that opens is a beacon of light to every other.
